With this IceToolz HG cassette remover, the lock ring that secures the cassette to the body can be loosened. After this, the sprocket cogs of the cassette are released and can be replaced. For loosening it is necessary to use a second tool, a so-called chain whip. The loosening direction of the HG sprocket is the freewheel direction. So a tool is needed to stop the cassette. This cannot be done with bare hands. This really requires a tool that does not damage the .sprockets. IceToolz has a number of chain whips or similar articles.
The IceToolz 53A2 - The most basic chain whip
The IceToolz 53S3 - Almost the same as the 53A2, but with an ergonomic grip
the IceToolz 53Y1 - An easy variant, no chain whip but pliers, works faster
The IceToolz 53Y5 - The most professional version, suitable for multiple systems

CR-V stands for chrome vanadium
CR-V = chrome vanadium and that is a type of steel which is an alloy between steel, carbon, chromium (around 0.8%), vanadium (around 0.1%) and some smaller amounts of other metals. This can be done in a ratio that can deviate slightly, but this ensures that the steel hardens and is better protected against corrosion. Chrome vanadium is one of the most commonly used metals in tool making.
